Preparing for Wellness Abroad is an e-learning module focusing on mental wellness for travelers engaged in international study and work opportunities. Developed by SASSIE Consulting in collaboration with a mental health professional, it is designed to help travelers to understand basic concepts of mental health and to develop strategies to support strong mental wellness during an international experience. The module can be completed individually by travelers on their own schedule as part of pre-departure program preparations.

A Client Perspective
We incorporated SASSIE’s Preparing for Wellness Abroad Training into our education abroad pre-departure resources three years ago (2023), and it has fundamentally strengthened how we support students’ mental wellness. Prior to then, we lacked a comprehensive resource to proactively address the increasing emotional and psychological needs of our students while abroad. The SASSIE training was an ideal solution to fill the gap. Now our students depart with greater self-awareness, practical coping strategies for navigating stress and cultural adjustment, and a clearer understanding of when to seek support. Getting to work with SASSIE’s founder, Marcia, is a huge plus because she is a trusted expert in study abroad, global health and safety, and intimately understands the realities of international education administration. This training is an essential aspect of our preparation model and reflects our commitment to supporting the whole student through their global journey. –Ahaji Schreffler, Senior Director, Education Abroad, Drexel University
